Roaka's Log, Mirtul the 5th

Mirtul, Day 5 (1479 DR)

I’m writing this as I sit before the fire at the Inn in Wintermere.

Coleman and I got into town this morning after a good hunt. We brought in some venison and furs for the inn and were rewarded with food and a place to rest – just the thing after a couple of weeks in a rainy forest. The woods have been quiet of late, and something feels… amiss. I have been wanting company more than usual, which is strange for me, since I usually prefer my solitude.

A caravan came into town shortly after Coleman and I, and I stayed out of sight of course. Probably just traders, but no need to scare them. Also, some other travelers are in town! Strange folk indeed. A dwarf, armored in shining plate armor and carrying a large hammer, and a cleric of some sun god, carrying a long, sharp spear, also armored, came in together and got room at the lodge. Also, an strange elven woman is sitting over at the bar now. Finally, a man with strange, bluish skin, and wearing what I would suppose is fashionable clothing (somewhere in the world) is trying to look inconspicuous. In another tavern, he might be able to pull it off, but I think I may have become a common-enough sight in town that he is probably the strangest thing these people have seen in years! Coleman tells me the man is actually a Genasi, possibly a man with either water or air elemental in his heritage.

I will greet these strangers and try to learn their names later tonight.
